This and some of the comments @Shipsure made on the single window coach thread indicate an increased sensitivity to prototype accuracy on the part of Micro-trains. Which from my point of view is a good thing.

But I can't help asking....

Will "factory seconds" be available?  I was just about to cut into one with Pullman lettering to use as a core for an Erie business car.  And I would take as many "bad" coaches (paired window are fine) as I could get as cores for my stack of M&R and BCS car sides- if any should happen to get painted the wrong color or scratched or whatever.

You should keep it - Micro Trains cars with mistakes/errors are highly collectible!   

Good point.  Given the history of MT auction prices, a mistake can put your kids through college.  I wonder how many folks will take them up on the recall offer?

I am not an "old hand" by Railwire standards, but I have been reading for several years, and I think this is the first time that there has been a thread like this where the manufacturer noticed the error before anyone on Railwire saw it.  Heck, not only did they see it first, they had a recall notice posted before anyone here noticed the issue.

Actually, I noticed this color error 16 years ago with the first release of the TTG Union Pacific Express Box Cars (and on the second release 4 years ago).  I was very pleased to see the Business car released in matching paint and hoping for enough cars to do a whole train.  Especially since these colors are VERY close match to the Model Power TTG Pacific.  So I, for one, am disappointed to see the recall.  I will not be sending mine back.  I understand the reason and applaud the effort and also think another reason is more TTG UP heavyweights are in the offing.  If so, I hope they will reprint the Express Box Cars in the corrected paint.  Now if they will just do another collaboration with Kato so the TTG FEF-3 will match the MTL cars.

Well, we don't yet know just what MT is fixing, do we Joe? 
Btw, the MT TTG box cars are not really UP Express Box Cars, just standard double door boxcars in UP TTG garb. They are way too tall, among other things. The express cars have a much lower profile to blend in passenger trains.
I don't  generally mind foobies if nothing else is available, but here I'd note Fine N Scale has (had?) very nice proto-based resin models of the UP Express cars for many years, pic below.
