I dunno, Chuck. There was a double comment in there that got my attention: 1) most of the interested parties are not railroaders; and 2) the interest in the route is mostly because the mequiladores want cost-effective shipping, namely double-stacks, which they currently cannot get via ex-ATSF in San Diego. The costs of re-boring all the tunnels and re-profiling cuts for modern clearances is likely to surprise them.
