Micro-Trains refrigerator hatch latches

I have quite a few Micro-Trains reefers with roof hatches.  They all came with uninstalled latches (usually black plastic, but matching the roof in some newer production cars).   One set to prop up open hatches, one for closed hatches

What do you do the latches on your cars?   I've always left them off, and am wondering if I want to do something different with them.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

I install them, attaching them with canopy cement where they plug in.

Cheerio!
