Daylight run on SOR #595, a turn from Nanticoke to Paris, Ontario, and return. Departing the yard in Brantford, crossing the Grand River in Caledonia, passing through Hagersville.

It's fall, and (surprise!) raining in Portland.

This was my train this morning.  It's a Siemens unit, what Trimet refers to as "Type 2" LRV built by Siemens in Sacramento.

I recently bought a new wide angle lens for my camera, so I've been messing around with it trackside a bunch.


Eastbound coal for Newport News passes through Norge VA.

It's an entirely manual lens, but it's incredibly sharp. If I was buying a lens mostly for train pictures I probably wouldn't choose this, but I do some astro photography and portraits and the f1.8 aperture is great for those things. Also really shines on a full frame camera, I'm using a Canon 5D.

Very sharp!  I'm looking for something wider than 20mm as I shoot DX format (Nikon D500).  With a 1.5x factor it really robs the wide end.  I'm looking at the Tamron 10-20mm.  f/stop is not really a big concern for me as my D500 is incredibly good in the noise department.
