New run of Kato Amtrak Autoracks and P42

Two new numbers for the P42 in PHV  is standard fair, but the second run of auto rack in PHIII is not. Although the racks are foobs they are close to the original 89" Amtrak had when the auto train was single level and  transition to Superliners.

Well, Kato announced that too late.  Although they're foobies, I would have bought the heck out of those Amtrak Phase III auto racks for my N scale AutoTrain.  But, I'm out of N scale, and I don't even foresee me doing another 80s-era AutoTrain in HO (that would be a monster!)

Or you bailed out of N scale too early.  :trollface:You impatient youngsters -- you know some of us old N codgers were hoping for K-4s and SD40-2s since way back in the '60s and '70s. Now we're seeing Centipedes and NH 8600 coaches -- and the Oly Hi!-- all unimaginable back then. The future is unpredictable. In the mid '90s I was sure we'd never see lightweight PRR cars in N. And then ...
So no HO Autotrains for you!

Um . . . no.  That was a decision that was not made overnight.  It began when I downsized the Seaboard Central 2.0 a year-and-a-half ago.  A particular model would not have kept me in N scale, because of the scale's shortcomings that had just become too much for me.  I'm happy where I am.  Kato missed out; not me.
