Cleaning/Soaking a Shapeways Product

I bought a high hood for a GP30 conversion last May. It has been sitting since as I can't see
buying Bestine,if available,  to soak/clean it . Maybe Shapeways should offer this service?
Some say use Simple Green. Has anyone used Simple Green and if so which one?
Thanks
Al

Bestine is like 13$ on Amazon, and it is reuseable, what have you got to lose?

I soak my Shapeways items in Naptha with good results.  Afterwards I run it thru a couple cycles of a ultrasonic cleaner (using warm/hot water).

Simple Green works for me. Just mix half and half with warm water, and give it a tooth brush scrub after 25 minutes, and all the wax should be off.

I've used Simple Green as well.  I have a shell that I am doing a test with- I de-waxed with Simple Green, did a first rinse in dish soap, then a couple rinses in warm water, let sit in the summer sun for a couple hours and an additional day or so on a windowsill, and then primed and painted black with Model Master acrylics.  So far, I've encountered none of the flaking or crystalizing defects reported here- ttps://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=43110.0 .  Now, if I could just figure out how to fill and sand all the tiny lines, without sanding off all the louvers.

It's not as if Bestine or Simple Green are hard to acquire currently, nor are they expensive.  Pick one and soak your parts.  I prefer Bestine but others swear by Simple Green as well.

Sometimes. True artists' supply stores like Dick Blick's handle it. Quasi-art (craft) stores like Michael's used to carry Bestine under the old manufacturer, but at least our local stores have not restored the SKU since Speedball picked-up the distribution.

Being a true Canadian, I picked up some Simple Green (concentrated) at Canadian Tire. I feel like it's probably easier to find than Bestine, and it did a good job for me.
