Atlas RS-11 cab on Model Power RSD-15?

This thread has renewed my interest in the old Model Power RSD-15:

https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=40758.0

Regarding the RSD-15 with the high short hood, has anyone tried to remove and replace the stock cab with a cab from an Atlas RS-11?

Also, are there any differences between the original Atlas/Kato cab vs the current Atlas/China cab where one may work better than the other?

Thanks!

Hi,

Here's a couple of photo essays that will help you.

This photo essay will show you what the inside of the shell of the Model Power RSD15 high hood looks like (see the "RSD7" shell pics):

Regarding your 2nd question, this essay will show you what the difference is between the  original RS11 Atlas/Kato cab vs the current RS11 Atlas/China cab :

The one thing that bothers me about the Model Power cab is the separate cab roof that leaves a visible horizontal seam (especially on the front and rear of the cab) and distorts the shape of the cab windows.

Assuming the same overall dimensions of the Model Power cab and either of the Atlas cabs, I'm thinking that it may be more practical to remove the remainder of the Model Power cab in order to replace it vs.trying to hide the seam and reshape the cab windows.
