Streamliners Down Under

There's been quite a bit happening here in Oz in the last few months with 50 and 60 year old bulldogs still seeing regular service. Early October saw Streamliners 2016 held in Goulburn New South Wales, which I believe has had a bit of recent coverage in trains and in Railfan & Railroad.

In late October and again in early December streamliners were used for two wagon relocation moves form South Australia to New South Wales, while Genesee & Wyoming Australia has reactivated two examples for use on maintenance of way trains.

Australian ROW is a bit light on when compared to North American practice. The pic with the two GWA locos is on the transcontinental mainline from Melbourne , through Adelaide to Perth, but is only 94lb rail. These two locos have been reactivated for the program which will see 375 miles of track upgraded to 132lb rail over the next two years.
