Kato F3 Shell Removal

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I'm having trouble with the "search" feature, so I thought I'd just ask again:

How does one remove the shell from this unit? I know it has something to do with the "glass" insert, but I've tried numerous times, following "Spookshow's" tip, and I just can't get those latches to release. I don't want to force anything, nor do I want to break any of the little steps (...naturally...)

Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks.

It is a standard Kato design. I think it only has 2 (diagonally placed) latches. I usually use toothpicks placed between the metal frame and the window-glass/shell assembly (near the latch area) to release the latches.  I also think that you first have to remove the front coupler before removing the body.

Try the TCS website - they have lots of decoder install instructions which include shell removal pictorials.

Pete beat me to it but... 

With the front coupler removed, I always use 4 round toothpicks inserted from the bottom around the "porthole" areas
then gently wiggle the shell off.
