Once I disconnect the DCS 100 from the power bus and loconet cables, can I just plug the those power bus wires into the NCE system and with the former loconet (Rj12) cables into the new NCE cab bus panels and be ready to go?

Yep. Just note that if you had any accessories that were dependent on the LocoNet data stream, they will no longer receive it.

Watch out with those loconet cables. Digitrax UP3 and UP5 panels are not compatible with NCE's throttle bus. They short pins 2 and 5 which are "ground" common on loconet. NCE uses one of those for ground and the other for 12+ volts. Not good if shorted on NCE.

The CABLES will be fine (they are just straight through (pin 1 to pin 1) 6-conductor cables).  But, yes, one CANNOT plug NCE into a Digitrax PANEL.

The UP3's will work fine. I have several in use, leftover from when I switched from Brand X to NCE.
The UP5's will not work.
The cables may not work, depending on how you did things in the past.
I found that most were fine, but a few did not work.
It is hard to know what I did  10-15 years ago when I first installed Digitrax, but my guess is I used some modular telephone cable from work.
It worked fine with Digitrax but not with NCE. I expect someone out there will know why.
