New KATO Budd "Pine" sleepers

Will somebody please finish a Blue Bird obs kitbash so Kato can get that train into production?

I suppose I'm looking forward to seeing the Southwest Limited cars hit the aftermarket.  Didn't want the whole set for either Coast Starlight or San Francisco Zephyr, but I think the baggage, Pacific car, and Indian cars might be appropriate.  (Advice appreciated, I don't have a lot of consist info for these trains in the 70s.)

So I looked at my copy for Zephyrs, Chief and Other Orphans the other night, and it looks like only the Starlight used any ex ATSF sleepers between 1971-76. I'll crosse reference the individual car numbers, but they  were 2700 series cars, which means Pine/Palm series 10-6's.

What about the Pacific series?

Ya know, the more I think about it the more I think I should have pre-ordered the whole set and sold the ones I don't need.

Yep ... that's what I had to do to get the 2 UP 10-6s I needed as pool cars for my Pennsy trains. I saved a few of the other cars for my own mini-Domeliner.

That's what I did.  Kept five cars, unloaded the dome, 4-4-2 and 11DBR.

Hmm, thank you. What kind of truck did the CZ 10-6's come with?

The CZ cars come with full skirts, so the Kato trucks have all the details missing on the top part of the trucks.

Kato does offer the fully-detailed version of the truck however, so any de-skirted Budd cars can be equipped with the proper trucks if desired.

Both trains had former UP Pacific series and Former CB&Q 10-6's assigned.

The ATSF cars had steam ejector AC systems, so they tended to be assigned places ATSF employees would maintain them, although I believe that Amtrak started replacing their steam ejector systems with electro-mechanical ones even before they did HEP conversions.

Did those go?  I saw you list them a few days ago.  Based on that and other posts here, I'm not expecting to find a Pacific sleeper out in the wild.

The dome went.  I relisted the two sleepers for this week since they had multiple watchers last week.  I'm surprised the 11DBR didn't go first since it is new tooling.

You may find a Pacific in the wild.  It can't be that everyone is looking to hold onto all 10-6 sleepers.
