That is the difference between dogs and cats. Your dog looks so guilty. The last time my cat destroyed a model and I caught her red handed, she looked at me at asked smiling: "What? Me? You can't be serious?"

We had a dachshund-pitbull mix that tried to eat a Marklin Z 8-wheel tankcar.  Messed up the paint pretty good, and didn't help the handrails any, but it was salvageable.  I put walkways around the bottom and made an Nn3 compressed gas tanker out of it.  It needed to be repainted anyway, so a little weather took care of any scratches.

The cats have never tried to eat anything.  Most haven't done any major damage, being too lazy to jump on the layout.  I do have to keep the door closed, or a toddler gate across it, to keep one out of the overhead wires.  They're strung tight enough that I'm afraid she'll get hurt on them.

That dog?  He wasn't stupid, or dangerous, just incredibly stubborn, and wouldn't listen or learn.  He finally met his end chasing a school bus.  A car going the other way squashed him.

I had this cat once... he'd come sit right next to me, on the couch. I'd pet him for a while, until he got tired of it. But rather than just get up and leave, he'd spin around and bite my hand. Hard. Then an hour later he'd be back. And if I didn't start petting him soon enough... he'd spin around and bite my hand. Hard.

So yea... sweet & innocent.

I keep the train room door closed whenever I'm not in there.  That seems to keep our border collie from messing with the trains.  He's extremely good now with not getting into things he's not supposed to, but when we first rescued him he did some damage until we established boundaries.  Fortunately none of the damage was to my trains (locking train room door).

Sadie, my Mini Aussie Shepard, is like Mary Poppins; "practically perfect in every way".

She never does anything wrong...plus, she thinks I walk on water...

Total losses include...a FVM 7 post Soo Line box.

Any damage to the plug doors on the FVM 7 post box?  If not, you could use them to replace the sliding doors on a MDC/Athearn Berwick 5277.  Hopefully, you could also salvage the door stops and X-panel roof while you're at it.

I got a mixed dachshund, but he's part Chihuahua and Pomeranian, but looks like a dachs, no idea what a Dach/Pit mix would look like.

But neither the cat or dog have gotten into the trains, the kids on the other hand...

Not paying attention one night, I locked one of my cats in the train room.  Next day, she was meowing and wanting out, so...I let her out, then turned on the lights and she'd destroyed every single scratch-built telegraph pole on the layout...nothing else. That was ten years ago, and I haven't had the heart to build more yet, but I make sure that Chessie is OUT of the train room before locking up!
