Detailing Bachmann P70s for early/mid 1944

With a set of the direct replacement 2D-P5 trucks that @Lemosteam designed on order from shapeways, I've started thinking that perhaps there are some other details that could be added to my two P70s to make them more suitable for the early 1940s.

My cut-off is July 19th, 1944 so I'm looking to detail my P70s to represent an "average" appearance for the tail end of the 1930s up until my cut-off date.

Google searching "Early 1940s P70s" and related wording didn't net me anything that appeared useful.

Nevermind then.

2D-P5s will have to suffice as the extent of any detailing beyond the stock appearance.

You just have to add the ice bunkers centered underneath the sides. And maybe the angle bracing next to the trucks if it isn't on the Bachmann model. The body and roof can stay untouched and still be considered appropriate.

The website I posted specifies changes made to the cars organized by date. you should be able to use that to determine What details you need to add or what windows need to be blanked out. The book Josh suggested is the source material for that webpage, I imagine it will have even more info...
