Wait - that's not the right color.

Did a little bit of railfanning today and came across these two. 
One of these is the wrong color

No wonder model makers can't get the colors right.

Ever see how many shades of GN Big Sky Blue there were at merger time?  The oldest were only three years old, and it seemed that every freight car was a different shade.  Passenger cars and locomotives were more consistent, but for freight cars "close enough" really is close enough.

Even at start-up BN couldn't muster a consistent BN green, and it ranged from Kelly to olive, verging on Weyerhaeuser, green.
