Social Responsibility
We're constantly looking for ways to enhance our environmental and community responsibility – from innovative building design to significant investments in wind and solar. The energy generated by Amazon Wind and Solar Farms 1.6 million megawatt hours per year would be enough for about 150,000 U.S. homes (more than in Cleveland, Ohio). Our first Amazon Wind Farm became operational January 1, 2016, in Indiana, and others are coming soon. Amazon has made a long-term commitment to achieve 100 percent renewable energy usage for the AWS global infrastructure footprint and has pursued a number of energy-efficiency projects throughout all of our operations globally.
