I just saw this on BLW's website:

http://brooklynlocomotiveworks.com/mt-trucks-couplers.htm

Prices on couplers, trucks, accessories, etc are going up February 1st.

Buy everything you can quick! It's an emergency! Hurry!

Hmm... I just declared
bankruptcy...

The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

A 7% price increase is not that much. Just remember that MTL is an American company

Here in the Great White North, the Canadian Peso has been in a steady decline during the last several years....since around 2012....trading today at 72 cents to the US Dollar. That means, for me anyways, that the cost of my monthly Micro Trains habit has increased 30% and now with the additional 7% from MT (which I don't deny they need to stay in business in the US.....) I have to re-think my purchasing habits. Don't get me wrong, it's not just about me getting my monthly MT fix, it's all the stuff from Atlas, Fox Valley, Digitrax, etc., too.

Umm, MT must be getting ready to buy FVM.  :P  Hey, it's the internet, I can start rumors, can't I?  :D

Is Dee planning a run for the White House?  bankruptcy hasn't stopped Trump from running.

One notes that recent releases of passenger cars are priced several bucks higher than early releases,  Given the sentiment on Railwire, I would think all they need to do is bring out the single window coach, which they could price with an MSRP equal to a WoT city bus, and reap millions in revenue.

If they really want to make money, they should market the training program they must give their employees on how to assemble 1015s and 1023s.  If they did it the way I do with the MT jig and tweezers, every assembled coupler would cost $15, assuming they pay anything close to minimum wage.

Hmmm .. but the CPI has been flat since 2013 ... with energy costs going down significantly.

Another funny thing is that I recall all the shippers (including UPS and FedEx) raising prices several years ago when the gasoline prices went over $4/gal., but now, at less than $2/gal. none of those companies are lowering their  prices.  And airlines just recently raised the ticket prices, again, with the price of jet fuel dramatically lower than in the last few years. I heard that they are raking in record profits.  And we know that the fuel costs are significant part of those companies' expenses. Funny how this only works one-way (up).  :(

Leaving the macro aside, I would think MTL gives their employees raises now and then, so eventually prices must go up.    ;)

Here in Sweden the trend has been the same: a 30% to 35% increase in the cost of a dollar.  But I guess in the long run it is better for all of us if things go well in the US. Thanks guys, and keep 'em rolling  ;)
