Height of white stripe on BC Rail 8-40CM and caboose.

Does anyone know how high up off the walkway or side sill the white stripe is on a BCR 8-40CM? Rail Canada says the stripe it self is 34" tall but doesn't off any other data.

Also the last version of the red blue and white caboose paint is stumping me. I can't find and widths of the stripes on it either.



I figure I can eyeball it pretty well but if anyone has the actual number that would be helpfull.

I eyeballed it on mine. BCOL diehards probably would find faults with it but for this NS modeler it looks good enough.

Looks like you nailed it.

I was going over photos last night and based on locating the top of the stripe at the top of the porthole, as you did, and then measuring down, it looks just right.

Did you use the logo from the Microscale set or the Highball caboose set?

Also, how does it run?

I use the Microscale set, it took some searching but I was able to find a set. It runs alright and it needs some tweaking (or more breaking in) in the trucks I believe, but I'd say mine runs almost like an Atlas.

I'm not happy with the fuel tank on mine. I'll probably end up making my own or sanding that one smooth.

Craig, Rail Canada's drawings are to scale.  I think the scale for Vol 5 is in the front, my copy is stuck in a moving box some where so I can not check, so you should be able to measure, and have it within an N Scale inch or two.

The last version of the RWB cabooses had a 29" high white stripe starting 37" up from the bottom of the side sill.

I do not have a paint diagram for the Dash 8-40CMs, but a good reference for the top of the white stripe is the bottom of the cab side doors.

From photos and Rail Canada I was able to sort out the 8-40CM (the first one is masked, one more to go) but I had been planning to eyeball the caboose.
