An interesting catch, a trio of SD60F's on an intermodal... not often do we catch a matched set in the east:

Wow, three SD60F in a consist- that was rare out west at any time.  The containers are matched too.  Great catch.

They've been more common in larger consists out west in secondary service iirc, Scott. Mixed with SD40-2W's and GP40-2L's, so maybe not so much solid sets. Hearing them coming up the hill for about 10 minutes prior to passing, they're not the pullers they once were... probably better than the 90 former Oakway's CN bought though, know a conductor who hates getting a Oakway on a train.

For the first 15 years these were on the road (late 80s-) it would be rare to see three of any high power CN loco on the lead of a train west of Edmonton.  Pairs were the norm and it would be rare to see matched models at that.  Older stuff like the SD40 and GP40 units could be found in triplets or mixed with higher powered units.

I love the cowls and my Kaslo SD60F model is my favorite loco, especially since I cleaned it out it runs very well.  In the early 90s I had a cab ride on the Foothills sub coming down the hill with a loaded coal train in 5512 (I think).

LOL, last weekend I saw a second train on the CP line north of here since 1998.  If the rails weren't shiny, I would naturally assume the line to be abandoned.

I caught this CP freight with a nice array of CP, DME, and HCLX power on NS' Chicago Line in Dunlap, IN. The last loco in the consist, CP 6006, was looking a little battered and beaten.

Reese, if that was a westbound CP freight, odds are 6006 is heading to Mayfield, KY., as a core for the order CP has for 30 (I think) additional SD30ECO's.
