Does anyone here have the Mainline Modeler all time issue zip drive?  Just wondering how the search is on it and if you can actually find stuff using it.

I don't have the zip drive, but I did get the DVD and copied all of it onto my computer. I don't attempt to search it directly, I look for references online and then open the relevant issue.

There is one online index that gives equal weight to ads and articles when searching, which is effectively useless.

I can't find a online search index that is worth a crap.  I guess they were originally on a DVD. Now they come on a USB drive.

What is it you're trying to find? I  have all the physical copies and know about where all the plans are.

Oh I've just been buying old issues on ebay. I figured just buy the whole set and save a few bucks over time. I have one back issue on the way to me now...

I have none personally available as I've already parted with all my accumulated duplicates and I'm keeping my library. But if you're just wanting to know what all is in the magazine... each issue had (on average) two or three drawings and the magazine existed for 25 years.  The list of drawings they did is very long.

I've used that search and it searches all the ads to give you a majority of bad results.

When a "zip drive" was mentioned by Chris what came to  my mind is Iomega ZIP drive from about 30 years ago. I was wondering why someone would revive that stroage format.   I guess I'm getting old . . .

I never heard a USB flash drive, memory stick, or thumb drive (to name a few) being called a "zip drive". Learned something new.

For example if I search for "Boston & Maine" I get 496 results. The first 26 results are all ads in the magazine. The next 25 results only 3 aren't from ads. This goes on and on.
