I know somebody will know this but when did the Soo Line come out with the all red paint scheme with white lettering? Was this after the Canadian Pacific merger or something else?

The red scheme came with the SD60m in 1989.

Yep. Just an update which was released when they bought the SD60m's. Made it's way onto a lot of units until the merger.

I can't say it was the first unit in the 'candy apple' red, but SOO 6042-6062 were all delivered in red. So numerically, 6042 was first in the red.
