Hi folks.

When Bachmann came out with their Berkshire, I bought three.  Two of them I was able to get running acceptably well, but the third I could never get satisfied with.  Pondering what to do with it (I had already made too many modifications to the electronics to send it back to Bachmann), I decided to experiment by using the Bachmann tender (in which I had already installed an ESU LokSound decoder with a Knowles Dumbo speaker in a custom enclosure firing up at the coal load) on a Walthers/LL Berkshire.  It worked - in fact, the result is a somewhat-closer-coupling tender than the LL tender, which I like better than the original tender coupling distance.  An added benefit is that the Bachman tender has far superior electrical pickup.

Here's a short video of the result (sorry about the fuzzy focus; I'm still trying to get the hang of taking movies with my Canon 70D):

Yes, after doing this, I checked the Bachmann web page to see if they sold the tender as a separate part.   Not listed there (yet?).

No, Good MAX, Good MAX.  Nothing wrong with considering the possibilities.  Actually, this combo of the Bachmann Tender and LL shell/mechanism works great for me.  If I could buy the tenders, I'd convert my entire LL fleet over to the Bachmann tender.

I haven't tried putting the Bachmann boiler shell on a LL mechanism . . . hmmm . . . might have to head down to the workshop and see . . .
