Peco turnouts and Atlas flex? Or ME flex?

Has anybody connected ME Code 55 track to Atlas Code 55 track? How do you do it?

The ties on ME Code 55 are higher than the ties on Atlas Code 55. Basically, you just have to shim the Atlas track. Am I right?

Javier:  That's the way I'd do it.  I would probably run the shim out a couple inches, to make sure the joint doesn't have a kink in it, then taper down to the roadbed.  I had to do that quite a few places on my layout, because the ME flex and handlaid turnout ties weren't always the same height.  Also, snce I used both C55 and C40, every compromise joint had to be shimmed, and those were done the same way.

gee--i never realized that the peco tie-spacing was incorrect until i read it here.  i also cannot tell that a locomotive hood is one n-scale foot to wide by looking at a photo.  3/64 of an inch.  how can i sleep at nite.  i guess i just do not fit in here.  i do like peco switches and track and have mixed it with other brands.  i should be banished.

Banishment seems too strong--perhaps we should just censure you publicly and hang you in effigy...

I honestly don't know what my solution will be on this N scale track issue, but I certainly haven't ruled out using Peco turnouts or track. Not sure the finer scale brands of track are worth the added fiddle factor.....

How did you manager to give them 2 smites?  Or someone else gave the 2nd one? This new rating system will be lots of fun!

I want to try what you can see in LAUPT: a combination of track with concrete ties and turnouts that have wood ties.

That's a very common sight today.  For that combination, I'd find the shim thickness needed by trial and error, then mass-produce the shims ahead of time.  Make the shim the same size and shape as the turnout, and glue it to the roadbed.

Mine were usually made onsite, as they all seemed to be unique, and many of them were made from the subscription cards in magazines.  Just add layers until it was level...and they're free.  Hopefully yours will all be the same, and you'll have an easy time of it.
