PRR Dwarf Signals

Someone in the Yahoo PRR N Scale group pointed these out.  They're evidently a danish prototype, but more than passable for PRR.

Given that the giant peg at the bottom that's intended to be planted into the ground is 3mm in diameter, I'm not sure that these are going to be making an appearance on my layout.  LOTS of fiddly work there.

Depending on their placement dwarf signals came in both left hand, and right hand versions.  The Shapeways product seems to be all one orientation.

I wonder why the Pennsy felt the need to have both left and right hand dwarf signals?

According to this chart I found on the Internet, it shows both left and right hand versions of the dwarf signals



Not sure when this practice ended but my Penn Central Position light training manual



and Conrail signal chart show only one style of drawf signal in use



I don't think I've ever seen a left handed dwarf signal, only right handed dwarf signal.

Why did the P-company use left handed dwarf signals?

If I recall correctly, the arched side was toward the track that the signal controlled. Given the normal placement of a signal on the right, dwarfs with the arch on the left should be more common.
