Woo Hoo! New power on the Reading & Northern!!

 I don't get to see much 4 axle power anymore,other than the occasional new hulk on it's way to Steamtown,Reading & Northern SW's,and EX D&H geeps..Just got a thrill,the R&N bought a bunch of ex ATSF GP30's!!! Just saw one,looked brand new,nice paint,yellow & blue paint..I'll get some pics next time..

R&N is looking for more power..Supposedly,they're expecting a big traffic increase this Summer..

So the middle one in the photo looks about right fading wise, but this'd other two look way too new to have been sitting it Larry's yard for long. Anyone know the back story?

Looks like they have/had about 25 GP30's. I never even knew that LTEX used this place for storage. I read about it somewhere and drove over to see all these locos. They have since put up a gate at the main entrance

So, the R&N is in the process of painting them and getting them ready for service.

Apparently, they're aghast at calling them "GP30s" because "Those are old" or something like that, so they're supposed to be calling them, get ready for this... a "GP39RN" or something like that.

I'm still looking forward to seeing them at work.
