kibri plastic adhesive 9995

Does anybody know what Kibri plastic adhesive 9995 is?
I am buliding the Kibri 100 ton telescoping crane and it says to use this or else.
Will any plastic glue work?

It is probably toluene or something similar.
I suspect that the kit is either polystyrene or ABS plastic.
Kibri most likely wants to maximize their profit by recommending their brand of glue.    Any styrene solvent cement should work, along with other adhesives, such as super glue or epoxy.

Plastic cements such as Testors; Ambroid; Kibri and Vollmer are Allyl Isothiocyanate based
adhesives They exhibit good bond strength, but they are very brittle when cured thus do not resist
bending or shearing forces well. They have setting times of 30 seconds to one minute and cure in
8 hours.

Rob, I think we are talking about apples and oranges.

I always thought that Kibri was like Testors liquid cement, Tenax, Ambroid liquid cement - all solvent-based cements which dissolve the plastic surfaces, causing them to weld after the solvent evaporates.  Testors liquid cement is MEK.  Tenax and Ambroid are Methylene Chloride.

I wonder of the NMRA article is talking about Testors cement in a tube.  That one is much thicker.  I think that I still have a bottle of Kibri cement somewhere. If I find it, I will see if the label mentions the ingredients.

But in the end, my original recommendations should still apply. It is a polystyrene or ABS kit.

I did finally find the old dried up bottle of the Vollmer adhesive. But its part # is 6016.  The label states "toluol".  So, it is not the same adhesive you were asking about.

However, I have built several Vollmer kits, and all of them were made from polystyrene. I assume that your is too. Look for the recycling triangle symbol on the sprues. If it has a "6" inside then it is polystyrene.  Then my original recommendation that any styrene or ABS adhesive will work, still stands.  I don't see why Vollmer would have suddenly started using different kind of plastic.

For that you better use wood glue.
