Using Future Floor Wax For Window Glazing

Would someone please explain how to use Future floor wax as a window glaze?  I have tried it and you don't want to know what the results looked like.. I've seen the reference to its use here on RW but nothing on exactly how to do it.

I would have never envisioned usig Future as window glazing. It is not viscous enough to be stretched over the window area. even if you somehow managed to get it to create a membrane in the window opening, it would be so thin that it would be extremely fragile. Future is a liquid which has consistency of skim milk (or paint which is thinned and ready for airbrushing).

Having said that, I would love to find out if there is in fact a technique for using Future as window glazing.  Maybe the technique is for using it to add shine to windows molded solidly in the walls. It will make them shiny, simulating glass.

BTW, it is not a wax; It is a floor finish.  It is a big difference and it irks me when people refer to it as wax.  It is basically a high-gloss acrylic clear.

The technique for Future Floor Wax is to make existing glazing smoother and clearer.  It's used in military models particularly for making plastic canopy glazing look much more realistic and in car models for the same purpose.

Using it for the actual glazing isn't a technique that I'm aware of.

To add to robert3985's comment, it's used to make clear plastic parts such as aircraft canopies more transparent with a higher gloss finish. Canopies are dipped in Future, placed on absorbent material (KimWipes because they are less prone to produce lint) vertically to dry. You can also spray Future from an airbrush to produce a clear surface to apply water slide decals. When dry, a matt finish is applied. This eliminates any "ghosting" from the decals.

I've have used white glue to create small windows or to fill in gaps where clear parts join regular plastic, or to create lenses on marker lamps. I remember that MicroScale had made a similar product. I don't know if that is still available.

The other place I use Future is on clear acrylic surfaces like water features to restore the finish that has lost some of it's reflectivity.

It's a good product to have in your arsenal.

As a side bar, I think Future is called something else in Australia. Soon as I stop watching re-runs of Sea Patrol and eating a few Tim Tams, I can our what it's called Down Under for our Aussie friends.

Exactly as Robert3985 , and the others, have said...
The Future Floor wax is used as a clear gloss coat, not for the actual make-up of the window material...it's such a glossy coat that it fills and 'removes' tiny scratches and imperfections, making the clear part more 'clear'...it also has the quality of removing 'distortion' from thick, curved pieces of clear styrene, again, making them appear more 'to scale' thickness and more 'clear'

My memory of a test that I did with Future 5 or so years ago showed that Future never dries hard in a thick application.  The cool thing was that you could poke at it and it would slowly flow back to level.

I've used Gloss Medium and have been happy with the results.
