Atlas Middlesex Mfg questions

I recently received this kit as a gift and have a couple questions.

First, are there any gotcha's in the assembly process?

Second, I would like to update the color or the building (specially the window panes) and am looking for any ideas or pictures.  I plan on using the building as a storage facility - like a  public storage facility.

I love using this kit for kitbashes. You can see several instances of it in my Engineering thread. I spray bomb the brick Ruddy Brown primer. Common window colors are white, green and black.
