Hello all...
just a few little things getting modelled during the Holiday season...
The Fast Msil project continues, but I'm starting to acquire and model more rolling stock for other '57 era Santa fe trains...so lightweight corrugated and smoothside passenger cars are creeping onto the workbanch.
I had the great blessing to acquire 3 of the Kato two-tone Valley sleepers in addition to an AMB acrylic side set, so work has started on these...the Kato cars have been modified for my era by removing the topmost and lowermost silver striping in oreder to represent the simplified postwar TT paint job...I also removed the car names and the Kato 'Santa Fe' lettering (although beautiful...it's a little too large)
All of my Valley cars will be 'de-skirted' so I started to remove the skirting...
Here is a pic of one of the cars in the preliminary 'de-skirting' stage...apparently Santa Fe left parts of the skirts to cover certain underframe equipment....

I've also decided (after spending a ridiculous amount of time carefully removing the stripes and lettering) to re-paint three out of the four in the dark gray scheme!...This will allow me to better model the late 50 transition period in these cars' life...
You'll notice that the undeframe on the Kato car isn't accurate for the cars (*at least for the Santa Fe)...modelling this correctly will represent the biggest challenge...I'll have to remove ALL of ther underframe detail and completely rebuild it!...should be fun!
Thanks for looking!
