Fox Valley doing Milwaukee transfer caboose

I just saw on Fox Valley Model's Facebook page they've announced they're going to release the iconic Milwaukee Road transfer caboose in HO and, drum roll, N!  Another model to check off my project list.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

A slightly tempered YAHOO! Is this in brass (as they announced 5 years ago) or plastic?

Best wishes, Dave

EDIT. Two big YAHOOS and and hot-damn. In plastic!

If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Tom,

Its not too late to like this! Perfect for the Snake Track.
The 2007 announcement was for brass in N only, while these are plastic. The brass model came out just prior to their entry in the metal wheel set market and Matt told me that the success of the wheel sets delayed the caboose. I am much happier to get this in plastic where I can get 4 for the price of 1.

Best wishes, Dave

Finally! I'm a little over-tired of seeing poorly done custom versions offered for full retail prices on Ebay. If only I had some scratch building skills of my own. :RUEffinKiddingMe:

It sounded like a good idea at the time... too bad the caboose wasn't in on the plan.

When did the white ends start?

The white ends and the 99 renumbering started in late 1972. A new car tracking computer system came on line then and couldn't deal with car numbers that started with 0.

How common were the white ends.  Or maybe a better question, how long did they last? Or even a better question (for me at least), anyone got a pic?

While I don't need one I will have to buy at least one.  I only have one MR loco and I already have one of their bay window units already, these are just too cool.

Jason,

Unsure how many had white ends. Some of these lasted until the Soo Line took over in 1985. Here is a cool photo from 1976 of a string of these in Milwaukee.

These were used in terminal service in Milwaukee, Chicago, & Kansas City. A couple ended up in Butte and Marinette (WI). Two were leased to the Des Moines Union Railway and one was leased to the DRI&NW.
