If you look at the picture of the truck on the Kato parts site it has a broken ear also. I have several chassis with no trucks and one running with the broken truck, just have to be careful when icking it up. Bob.
I have 23 of the "original" run, which were the "Early" and "Snoot" versions, and not a single one of these has the broken truck issue.Have another 13 of the "Mid-Production" units, which I believe Kato calls the Mid and revised versions, being the revised are mid productions with the AC units on the cab roof and low headlight. The 4 runs are Early, Snoot, Mid, and Revised.
I believe the desriptions you are using refer to the shell/prototype production. I also understand that Kato has produced several chassis versions too?Can anyone list and descibe the Kato production versions?
The Early and Snoots used the original SD40-2 mech, the mid and revised versions use the new mech.Kato has done 4 runs, Early, Snoot, Mid, and Revised Mid.
Actually, what you call Mid is reviced, firt run was BN style Mid and the second run was ATSF Mid, the only differeces are the AC unit on the cab and horn placesment on the hood of the ATSF style unit. They both used the reviced screw less mech.
