I think it's DCC controlled lighting to be specific.  It's not a particularly nice model from the ones I've seen.

For information's sake, these machines are the Euro equivalent of a big High Rail truck with a crane in the US. One of the things that is different between US/Canada and Euro MOW.

Kind of why I get fascinated from time to time with European stuff and then say - this is insane. Although, the price differential on rolling stock is not nearly as steep as it once was.

While I was still in Germany, I was able to aquire some more european stuff. I love it, and if it wasn't so damn expensive, I'd be modeling the DB in the area where I lived. This, though, is way out of line. I saw those at a local shop, for like 100 Euro, $120 roughly. Still really high, but more reasonable than that.
