Because, as Intermountain has learned, that small minority of loyal folowers for given road name will slay you on the web for years because you cancelled said model even though ony 17 people committed to it... and "commiting" is an issue in and of itself...........

Ah, but announcing the model is canceled BEFORE it is announced solves that problem. Those folks can blame themselves for the cancelation because they didn't order any... which would be impossible in the first place. Worrying about your budget is also a thing of the past.

BTW Pud, check out the CP compound on Harper Road this week... CP 2101 is in town.

There are drawbacks to either system (Long lead times in hopes of adequate orders vs. short lead times on the bird in hand...)  Either beats the hell out of the old system, which was Bachmann trainset crap in 3 roadnames, none accurate, and take it or leave it.

You young guys with your unlimited appetite for details really missed out on the "golden age" we old poops had to endure...
These really are the best of times for N scale, so enjoy it.  As for Kato, I'll be interested to see just exactly what they're producing.  I have a feeling I'll have plenty of opportunities to NOT buy Union Pacific and BNSF Dash 9's.  I seriously doubt they will produce much of anything that tickles my fancy.

Of course, watch the first thing off the boat will be 4 numbers of WM F units in circus...

Same here, but add the 70MACs to the list too.  I've aquired half of the fleet so far and that includes renumbering, which isn't so bad now that I've figured out my system for doing such.  Only minor problem is the Microscale lettering is smaller than the Kato printing???  Who's is correct?

Looks like we're going to see this in action soon.  kato has blocked off the April shipping schedule for a new N announcement.

Hope it's not just NS heritage units.

I'd be surpried if they could have them ready and on the way that quick. Wonder if it's the next passenger train. Of course if they were going to announce the Heritage fleet that would blow their plans on the new announcement strategy out of the water.

Heh, I don't think CP is all that pleased with them either. 8243 went up on Sunday between 3066 and 3126, though it's road power, not the P-boro switcher.

Now those were rare birds... I mean they came right at the end of CR's existence. I recall only catching a few of them before the end, both on the WLR outside of Buffalo and on the West slope.
