Fiber weeds and grass - Boon or Bane?

  After seeing several impressive photos from layout where the various wild grasses were added to the scenery, I elected to try one of these products. 

I had a few areas along the right of way that I had painted earth color, but never added any further material.
I installed a few narrow strips of the wild grasses over a tacky water based adhesive.  The result was very satisfactory.

Today while re-installing a traction tire on a steam locomotive, I notice that some fibrous material was present near the drivers.     I have used a micro brush to remove the fibers.  Now I am questioning if I should have installed the wild grasses too close to the right of way. 
Any one else had this experience with wild grasses or static grasses?

Roger, many times after I run a locomotive, I'll flip it over to take a look at the underside to check for the amount of dirt on the wheel treads and such.  And yeah, sometimes a strand or two of static grass will attach itself to the bottom.  I wipe it off and put the loco down/away.

Haven't had a single case of static grass filaments causing a maintenance issue.

I've done this and found vacuuming up after works well.  I'm sure some stray fibres will be present anyway.  It is mostly rayon, so it is not conductive.

Vacuuming is a must. And if you use a clean bag-less vacuum you can reuse the caught fibers. The extra effort is well worth the ending product with this stuff.

Using it also takes a bit to figure out how to get it to look just right. First tries may result in basically a fuzzy field.
