Thin wire for the piping I would think, something to hold the shape once you have it on there, those roof shots help a lot.

Have you considered using the roof mount air tanks from Miniatures by Eric?

http://www.miniaturesbyeric.com/itm00360.htm

You'd need to check with Erc but I think these are the right length/diameter for the tanks on CP's DB-equipped geeps (the ones from Atlas would need to be trimmed to size)

Will see if I can find any reference/modeling articles for you...

I wondered about the MBE tanks but when I saw a pair I thought theu looked too small; I'll e-mail them and ask...thanks for the idea.

There was an MR article years and years ago by a guy who'd modeled an HO scale GP 9 w/ TT and an FB2 booster unit in Action Red....always liked his weathering........can't remember the date.....

That would be the August 1998 issue, the Paint Shop article.  I might have that issue but it will take some time to find it.  Been through a couple of moves since then and might have lost it but I will check.

I posted a query on the CPSIG board about the arrangement of the roof piping; wow, did I get
A ton of help ! I received several roof detail photos, a detailed diagram and some hi Rez model photos of a HO masterpiece of a GP9 model of the unit I was thinking of modeling... Battle has been joined !

Hell.  Why spend money?  Get some sprues of the appropriate diameter out of the junk box and make with the sand paper.

Never spend a dollar when a nickel will do.

Maybe Lee will be the new Chairman of CP instead of Akerman...? Chairman Lee...um....why does that sound vaugely familiar....?

I obtained some M B E tanks that are, according to my LHS superdude, the right scale size......
