N scale question of the week! 14 Sep 2011

Hey guys, taking a break from Mythology 103 to get the question up this week, on time!

the other night I was thumbing though some of my old magizines, and noticed that their is a lot of intresting scratchbuilds and kitbashes out there. For instance, the Southern (IIRC) Inspection car made from a old boxcar, Icebreakers made from all kinds of diffrent rolling stock, and of course the kings of jury rigging, Logging equipment. I don't have anything too odd yet for myself, unless you consider the geared steam oddballs.  :scared: so this weeks question:

what is the Most oddball piece of equipment you have seen modelled or modelled yourself?

I was going to post the same as David.  I guess the next piece would be a rebuilt Baldwin.



I hope this makes it back to the workbench so I can finish it sometime this decade.

I'm working on a Continuous Welded-Rail train, which is easily the oddball in my fleet.

As a general rule, I try not to model the unusual unless it sets time period/locale.  And even then, in moderation.

Hard choice as I enjoy building "different" equipment.  Maybe it's this old "pickle car" I found in a Kalmbach book.  All scratch-built... even the "sag" in the roof!  :D

I always wanted a box cab but....  So, take an idle afternoon, an Atlas/Kato GP9 I never liked the looks thereof, an EF-57 shell, some odds and ends of bits, and the "2nd Diesel Spotter Guide", and I had my box cab.  Not any particular one, sort of an amalgamation of many, I was happy with it.  Rule #1 applies.  :D
