Guests cannot view attachments (photos)?

I emailed a link to a post with attachments to a friend who is not a TRW member.  When he views that post, he cannot see attachments. Instead, for every photo (attachment) he instead of the image sees  [ Guests cannot view attachments ]  message.  Is this done on purpose?  If yes, that is kind of sucky as I can't show non-members any photos on TRW.

Update:  As non-member he cannot see the images using Browsers on Windows XP and Windows 7, but was able to see them on an iPad. Odd...

Not sucky for me! This saves me bandwidth and encourages folks to become members.

Hint: The gallery is visible to outsiders.

I see.  But if the the images are saved as attachments by the person who created the post, the non-members are SOL.

Not in every situation - my friend was interested in the Royal American Shows carnival photos. He is not all that interested in other TRW activities.

Silly question, but could you save them and email them to your friend?

It's actually pretty common for forum attachments to be visible to subscribers only.

Yes, I can, but that is an extra step I was hoping to avoid.  No big deal.
