SD70MAC at St Denis.  Train outlawed early in the morning and was there most of the day dying up the track.

If your wondering what that emblem is on the noise, it's a Sunoco logo.

You not only have a talent for modeling great scenery, but you have a good eye for image composition as well.

The Pine Creek Railroad (Allaire State Park, NJ) ran Easter Specials April 16 & 17, 23 & 24. It rained every day except the 24th, which by good fortune was the day I came to shoot it for the website.

They're doing something rather unusual--restoring a 70s-era tamper.

Here's a short video of the train ride in HD:

+1 This is a very interesting photo. I like the way you have to search for the train in order to determine the era. The locomotive could be anything from an early steam engine up through modern power (assuming the clearance sign was absent). Very nice.

Best wishes, Dave
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

One more (late) shot, CP's Havelock freight in early 2010 had some fun with snow on it's way to Toronto. I've never seen that much snow on the front of a unit before and wish I'd seen them busting those drifts!

'bout time we saw some more of your trip shots James.  It looks like the Tehachapi weather appears to have cooperated; how was the traffic?  Wish I could have made it!

+2.  I think those talents go hand in hand.

Pulled this one out my butt hanging out the window of Vollmer's rental car at speed.  Damn those power lines!

The weather was perfect, so the suggestion for the western-a$$hat's Tehachapi weekend occurring in April was spot-on. Traffic was ok, better than other times I have been there. Trains always appeared to be moving - there never appeared to be a train waiting in a siding - at least for very long.

The green hills probably helped me select April as a modeling period too. More photos to come.
