Define modern...Isn't the current modern one Phase V (Acela) and Phase IVb?

IV would be about 1993ish for Superliners and 1994-5ish for Amfleets

I'm just happy they are tooling the plastic.  The decals of all the Amtrak schemes exist - we can always paint what we want and not wait the years for those schemes to be released.  I'm going to buy whatever cars I need - coaches, cafés - and store them away for future projects.  If Kato releases the older schemes in the future that I can use before I get to the first batch, I'll buy the new models and unload the modern schemes from the first run at the time.

Why would a GG1 need a HEP car...?  Was there something about the Amcans that made them different than all of the other passenger cars the Gs pulled for almost 50 years without HEP cars?

Oh, and dammit on the Phase IV.  That's OK, though, because I'm really liking the heritage fleet stuff that's come out lately from Walthers and Rapido.
