Atlas N USRA Single-Sheathed Box Car - re-tooled truck

I just got the latest release of the Atlas USRA Single-Sheathed Box Car and to my surprise the truck was re-tooled to give close coupling!

New run is on the left:


Maybe this happened on another run but I was surprised! I wonder if Atlas will sell me the re-tooled truck ...

They probably will but right now they are all busy trying to moderate Skip's and Victor's threads...

This is the Andrews truck and it has been modified for a few months. As far as I know the 50 ton Bettendorf still has the goose-neck appearance. Hopefully it will also be changed soon. (It is possible that the Bettendorf has been modified but it hasn't appeared on any of my recent purchases.)

I have been asking Paul when can I buy Andrews trucks for at least 3 years now. They still aren't available separately.

I'll try to take it back to the topic.  

Those Atlas cars sure are nice.  What would be even nicer is the release of those TrainCat outside braced WP cabooses.

When doing my permanently sidelined freight car truck article I had several ocations to talk with the Atlas staff about their Accumate trucks. They stated they will be moving over to short shank couplers as they have time (or tooling breaks). I have been pushing hard for their underslung 100T trucks becasue of the short shank and low profile of the coupler box. This truck fits a lot of intermodal equipment and gondolas other trucks with couplers cant.

You will nnotice the new 100T truck on their Thrall gondola and 20K GATX tanks. These are made by a new company (not Kader/SDK). The detail isn't quite as good but they do couple better. There are actually 4 100T Accumate trucks by Atlas 1. the ASF truck with explosive couplers, 2. the Barber S2 with not so explosive couplers. 3. the sweet Barber S2 with underslung, short shank couplers and 4. the newer short shank truck.

which models use this truck with underslung couplers?
Interesting list of 100-ton trucks,  I did not know this.  Which models were equipped with which truck?  The only thing I noticed was the new truck by another manufacturer because the current line of FVM wheels did not fit there.  Started a heated discussion when I put this question to the Atlas forum.
Do you know which type of 100-ton truck is used by Athearn and Exactrail?  Since sometime they changed the axle length this could be an indication that they switched to another manufacturer for the trucks.
