I built one of his kits


Next to an Intermountain N scale truck:


With the body:


It ran with the stock 3V motor. He sent me a 6V motor for it and in the process of replacing it things happened and it never run "good" again. I sold it on e-bay.

I had one in N scale with that type of drive . Miserable describes the finicky ever changing contact and its results of the shaft on the rubber O Ring thingy . Gave it to Randy , he hated it as well .

He sure likes those friction drives... rubber wheels and rubber bands... never could understand the appeal; they're one of the least desirable ways to power things. I guess it's because it requires less accuracy when building a mechanism.

David, maybe you should send him some of your motor project links - I think there outght to be an easy way to adapt his designs to micro-gear towers and planetary gear stacks.
