Ships . . er . . . trains passing in the morning at St. Denis, MD last Sunday.  The Rio Grande hopper is on a coke train - the locos are leading a stack train.  The foamers to the right are . . . well foamers . . .

That was on an Eastbound which came through about a half hour after you left.  One of 5 trains you missed.

Hey Bob, was that SD squealing like a pig? It looks like the handbrake was left on judging by the chain.

And I thought our 6 trains before lunch was a good haul.

Don't remember any noise coming from that SD.  Sunday was busier than usual.  Gotta try and keep my railfanning to Saturdays.  Really got the urge for a Polock Johnny's but found out they were closed on Sundays.  Damn can still taste one.

Simple, Bob... Get a 20 pack next time you're there, and bring the Hibachi track side!

My files are too large for TRW, so you'll have to look here if you want to see nude blondes on a GP38-2.

Ok, it's just snow on a GP38-2... close enough.

Mike,

I've never seen one running with that much snow onboard before.  Pretty sure they're violating some sort of rules: No headlights or ditch lights visible and lit!

Last September for my 9-day railfan trip, I decided to head out to Iowa and Nebraska with the highlight being the Union Pacific Railroad Days in North Platte with a tour of Union Pacific's Bailey Yard. On the way there, I detoured off I-80 and raced trains on the double and triple track UP mainline along US30. Here are some of my more memorable photos from the trip.

1) In Grand Island, Nebraska a BNSF empty coal train on the Ravenna Subdivision crosses over a Union Pacific manifest freight train on the Overland Route.

2) Union Pacific 4-8-4 No. 844 is on display for Railfest downtown in North Platte, Nebraska on 20 September 2009.

3) Union Pacific 4-8-4 No. 844 leads the Union Pacific Railfest Special westbound on the Overland Route in Hershey, Nebraska on 21 September 2009.

4) Union Pacific SD70ACe No. 1995 sits idle in Union Pacific's Bailey Yard Locomotive Shops in North Platte, Nebraska during a Railfest Tour on 20 September 2009.

5) Union Pacific Track Inspection Vehicle No. EC4 is westbound in North Bend, Nebraska on 19 September 2009.

6) Union Pacific ES44AC No. 5505 leads a Union Pacific manifest freight train, eastbound on the Overland Route in Schuyler, Nebraska on 19 September 2009.

7) Nebraska Central Railroad SD45 No. 5332 sits idle in Columbus, Nebraska on 19 September 2009.

Check out my website (listed under the web tag) for railfanning pictures from 32 states, D.C., and Ontario. Current locomotive count: 5772!

Part 2 of my trip to the UK this January.........

On the 750v DC third rail network south of London, two 2-car EMUs form a London (Victoria) to Epsom suburban working arriving at Sutton.

The same train waits at Sutton station

Still on the third rail network, but this time an outer suburban EMU waits at Ashford with a service for London (Victoria)

To the east of London at Stratford, two 3-car EMUs (25kV AC overhead) form a suburban working to London (Liverpool Street)

Again at Stratford, a Freightliner intermodal freight service from the port of Felixstowe.

A Class 395 'Javelin' high speed EMU at St Pancras International

They were running at a restricted speed... well track speed is 10mph. The hogger asked me if they had visible headlights and when I told them no, they saw to it that they were visible.
