Very nice, the window shades really improve cars alot. I wonder if Kato's Kinematic couplers done for the Daylight will work on both El Cap and Pooper (Super) Chief cars to close couple? Short of usuing drawbars I haven't figured out how to close couple the F Units of any manufacturer, and American Limited diaphrams made for F's look too tunnel-like to me spaninng that big gap. The Modutrak layout looks wonderful, too bad it cannot come to a show in may part of the country (Intermountain West). Nate Goodman (Nato).

You can bring the F-units much closer together with unimate short shank couplers. To help visually, I installed just one side (as opposed to both sides) of an American Limited diaphragm between each unit:

Mike did something similar with the diaphragms on his Union Pacific passenger set and it visually helped things a lot. However it also required shaving the stock Kato diaphragms off - a lot of work.

There is nothing like a quartet of ATSF warbonnets!  Nice photo!

We are all getting together next Saturday to run trains, so I'll take a ton of footage and see if we can do a larger railfanning film of sorts with the rest of the equipment that everyone has.

Thanks for the kind words.

Yes ,I have used Unimates on other units, but I would like to keep working couplers on some of these locomotives ,years ago Unimate offered a coupler set specifically for KATO 1st run F-3/7 diesels. Yes those locomotives with half an AL diaphram sure look nice. Nate Goodman (Nato).
