There's some things I'd probably do differently, but I'm pretty happy with the 3-ft. away look.  The big shadow under the cab is a result of the JnJ knock off of the old AHM F45 is wider than the Atlas chassis.  I would have used the battery boxes from the casting, but they were really rough.

I'll take some more pics with it riding around on a GP40 frame to see how it looks "in context" and post later.

You might want to grab a tweezers and remove the hair that has attached itself to the paint on the battery box!

I spent some time today getting Bryan's NE5 shell to settle down onto the frame, and am now working on patching the cupola.

Now I need to track down a set of bay windows for it. I'm planning on using walthers ones, but... I have an email to send.

The Walthers ones are perfect for the job, but you have to track down the Conrail bay window specifically as that is the only decorated version they were used on.  Walthers has none, but they turn up on eBay every now and then.

What are you using for grabs, btw?

Either .006" or .008" diameter stainless steel wire, whichever your preference is.  A length that will last you for a few years are available from Small-Parts at a reasonable price, either 30" or 60" if I remember correctly.

Yeah, I have a pair, they're slightly clunky, but we'll see.

Forgot to mention - strip the super-thick layer of CR blue paint off the bays and repaint with the model, the detail isn't as clunky then.

The spare bays that I have are too big me thinks. Look at my SP C-30-6 and if you think you can use them, I should have a couple hanging around. You also may want to try Don Tichey for phospher-bronze wire. He does carry .008 and would be much cheaper than SS unless that is what you want to use.
