How many black tankcars with non-descriptive white or yellow markings that all look alike is the average modeler going to buy?

Hehe, that's kinda what I want cuz that's mostly what I saw. And it's exactly what MT is NOT giving us on the 3 domer.  ::) (Joe said it was in cue though!)

Even when MTL does the SHPX three-dome car, and even if they do a multi-pack, how many will they sell?  When is the last time they did a five- or six-pack of anything, let alone tank cars?  When is the last time they did a multi-pack of a black tank car?  UTLX, when it came out 30 years ago.  How many times have they run that 10k gallon single dome car in the last 30 years, which is one of the most ubiquitous schemes on tanks of the mid 20th century?  The initial five-pack in 1980, a six-pack in 1988, a two-pack in 1998, and a single release in 2002.  Nothing since.  If the demand was there, that car would be pumped out at least bi-annually and in multiple numbers.

IMRC still has kits available of four black nondescript tanks, even though the tool broke a while back.  The 8k gallon single dome is a common tank for the transition era, and yet they still have stock.

We all want to see new models, which increases the diversity of what's available.  But any model must have wide-enough appeal or it isn't practical to do.  If black ubiquitous transition-era tanks aren't moving today, it makes little sense to introduce another one.

I just want one. ;) I sure as hell didn't see "cuts" of three domers.

I'm sure they'll sell a million in Bozo the clown, but I just want one. I don't remember seeing these things in technicolor paint. The only ones I saw were 3D black (dark, drab, dull).

There's gotta be others like me out there ... (maybe not) ;)

And before anyone tells me to paint one up and decal it I have about a million N&W projects in cue ahead of it (high nose conversions, cabooses to scratchbuild, etc).

If I understand their website correctly they only have the kits in stock for a few road names, and we all know how people love the kits (I have a few kits). ;D

On the tank car argument, Beaufort and Morehead for quite a while made something like 97% of their profit from tank car revenue.  They made more money hauling tank cars than some railroads made from total freight service.
