This is a re-run for some of you... but I wanted to open it up for broader comment...
Work gets underway. Tonight the ICC approved the abandonment of the Utility Sub of the Western Maryland from a point just west of North Junction to the Potomac River. The Yard facilities at Ridgeley have been carefully removed, and stored for re-construction.
I think I've decided to strip the yard, and rebuild it on the 30" door panel I have out in the garage. That will give me the yard platforms to press into some other yet to be determined service. I will outfit the other L-girder frame I have in the garage with the Connellsville staging loop, then place the new Ridgely yard on the door about 6-8" above it.
The biggest challenge immediately facing me is the unbelievable pile of crap that I have in that room. One of the huge benefits of expanding the layout will be a much improved storage schematic under the benchwork. It turns out I'm going to be off Monday due to a weekend seminar I'm running, then again on Wednesday for Veterans Day. I'm thinking I can get a lot of crap moved and framing built.
I have to get up and down with my neighbor, who's in the middle of remodeling his kitchen. He's had two very attractive cuts of 1/2" plywood on his porch for a couple of weeks, and I'm thinking they might be large scraps I can "obtain" for the staging yard base.
