KATO Toyama Light Rail & UniTram Announced & Re-Release Eizan 900 Series Kirara

Kato has announced that they will be releasing a new tracking system called UniTram this November. UniTram is an Unitrack based trackage system with track embedded in the road/street.

Right now there is only two sets, the Basic set ($182*) which is an oval that looks to be based off of their Double track Oval set and their Starter set ($313*) which is the basic set plus their Toyama Light Rail car in Red.

This leaves me to the next announcement by Kato, which is Toyama Light Rail.  It will come motorized unlike the Tomytec version with a detail interior, working interior lights and feature directional lighting for the headlights and taillights.  They will be released in 3 colors (Red, Green, Blue) and retail for $96*.

Check with your favorite online dealer like Plaza Japan, Hobby Search and others.

That could be quite awesome.

I actually am planning on having a stretch of straight street trackage on the (not so distant) future layout, and this could save me a lot of pain!

Depends on what it looks like.  Unitrak isn't known for it's authentic appearance.  The key will be a workable turnout in street trackage that doesn't look horrible.
