flanger blade?

This has me stumped. I need to make 4 blades for a model of this flanger. You can see parts of two blades here. They are mounted at a 45* angle to the track. I can't figure out how to make one. I tried bending brass shapes but the results weren't acceptable. Any ideas?

Of course you might need to invent a time-machine first to be able to find a soda can pull tab! Let me know if that works out as I have a couple of photos I would like you to take. Seriously though, the idea of thin aluminum is a good one. I would like to build a similar flanger and have been wondering how best to make the blade. At one point I thought about just parking it in some weeds so that nobody could see. The other idea I have had is to modify a commercial locomotive snow plow by cutting it in half (down the centerline), increasing the angle, and then overlaying it with thin styrene.

Well I tried the soda can before, and failed. The problem for me is that I do not have a flat template to cut the blade. Every time I cut the pattern to what I think it should look like after rolling it, it looks way off. Don't even get me started on the fact I have to make FOUR identical ones!

Anyone know if an S scale engine plow cut in half would work? I don't even know where I would find them.

I ran across an instruction sheet from one of the old HO MDC 3-in-1 kits for a different flanger blade.  This is obviously bigger than what your need, but I thought that this might give you something to start with.

Here is what the thing looks like when it is done. For your project, you would need to scale the thing way down and modify the shape.

Here is the template (in HO scale) for the blade. I put an HO scale on the bottom for reference. Sorry for the poor quality, but I didn't have time to scan it.




I think if you cut down the width and height by maybe a third or so and rescale it to N it could work for you.
