Weekend of Railfanning in Western New England

Went out West End of Pan Am/Guilford for my Birthday again.
Anyways...
We got to East Deerfield Yard around 2 Saturday. MOAY arrived in Daylight and after that we went to the trolley museum in Shelburne Falls where I waited until 6 and nothing came. Then to Bardwells Ferry after checking into the motel, but there was still nothing.

Sunday, which is the day Pan Am is supposed to not run, we drove to Hoosac Tunnel, and about a minute after arriving the signals blinked on so I raced up to the tunnel. I'm glad I was there filming, because a guy and his two kids were about to walk into the tunnel. Charlie Darwin would enjoy that. After it passed we caught up to it at Zoar and Charlemont.

Then staying at a Bed and Breakfast in Castleton Vt, I was able to run to the grade crossing about 800 feet down the road.
Caught Amtrak there soon after we arrived, and around 11pm, the Rutland-Whitehall "TankTrain" rolled by behind an ex HLCX GP38-2, CLP GP40-2, VTR, GP40-2, and ex HLCX GP40-2.

Then today on the way back after touring several slate quarries in Granville NY, I called a friend, who told me Guilford's EDRU was about 5 minutes away, so the parents pulled off to the side and soon it rolled by. I did get a wave from the cab, which was nice!

Dad had to pick up some papers from a friend, and when we crossed the mainline in Ayer, I saw the signals illuminated, so yet again, we pulled over.

It would have been nice if it wasn't raining, but it was still a pleasant trip!

You must have very tolerant parents. Great BDay present. I'll have to print this out for my wife to read to give her a hint or two.

It was a nice trip, although they made a pretty clear point that the MOED chase would end at Charlemont. The only reason it ended up in a chase anyways was because Pan Am isn't running as much on Sundays, and it was doubtful there would be another train within a short period of time.
