Check: http://www.nscalesupply.com/MTL/MTL-Circus-Series.html - and read "Train sets"

Specifically, they are saying they will be selling sets of cars to replicate the CURRENT RED UNIT train.

First I have heard of this...  It sounds to ME as if MTL will be packaging some Kato (since they have lots of cars that could stand in for RBBC cars), some new tooling and some loads on MTL COFC flatcars. Remember MTL has packaged non MTL stuff into sets before (the crane, for example).

If done well, this might be interesting...

Why is this so confusing?  It's almost like no one has any idea what make/sell?

I see the light Tom - I am no longer confused - it's Marketing!

My guess is the idea is to capitalize on the Circus thing, with minimum investment:

             - Series of cars with Circus graphics, based on existing tooling for collectors.
             - Semi-prototypical trainsets that give the "flavor" of the current Red Unit
and "runner packs" to extend those sets

Probably little or no new tooling, and a bunch of resin "circus loads" for the flatcars.

L A M E ! If they want to do a circus train, then they should do a complete circus train. Maybe they can release a boxcar with a billboard of a four pack of N&W coal hoppers on it. That is about as close to a four pack of coal hoppers as this is to a circus train.

"Y"..........Yawn....I couldn't care less if I tried.....

"Y"..........Yuck.....What's next ? The "Girls who turned us down in College" series.....

"Y".......... "as in WHY".................OH, I FORGOT.........MONEY..............

Sigh..............I guess if someone is happy that makes it ok...........
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

There is no passenger car models that represent any of the passenger cars on the CURRENT Red or Blue Train.  Period.  All cars are heavily modified from their original configurations, with many having been that way for upwards of a decade or more.

Jerry - thanks for that info!  I was under the mistaken impression that there were cars that were close or could stand in, but apparently not...

Only if they paint it shocking pink and cut off the roof so the giraffes can look over the top of the car.  ;D :o
