Guys;

Hope you don't mind that I posted this to the Atlas board also.

Folks;

Can anyone point me to the producer/vendor who makes model castings of nose mounted reefer units for mechanical refrigerator cars and also large units for roof mounting on cold storage/produce buildings?

Thanks,

Barry

By coincidence I am just finishing a mechanical reefer project and had the same question a while back when I was researching it.  I found 2 sources (all resin castings):

Fine N Scale #2210

Deluxe Innovations #990812, #990822

For my project (an ARMN ex-PFE reefer) I used one of the Fine N Scale units which is just about right for the prototype.

Really wish someone would release the clip on type gen set for containers.

Gary:

Thanks, for the information I will check it out.

I look forward to seeing your modified mechanical reefer as that's my plan to update some older, reefers for mythical, private, car line.

Hopefully I'll post some shots this weekend or next.  I have two units done and tried painting them last night (Polly Scale reefer white) but the results were very disappointing - very poor coverage despite many passes with the airbrush.  Back to the stripper for another try.... Maybe a rattle can this time.

Cheers,
Gary
